Over the past two years, I have gained a following as a nursing speaker, and presentation requests are coming from nursing groups all over the country. I have had people approach me after presentations to tell me that I have changed their life or their nursing practice with my message. Wow! I’m just sharing my passion and excitement about what I do… I never thought I would inspire people.
I wonder if that was also true about Steve Jobs, who was known as one of the greatest corporate storytellers in the world? Was his effectiveness related more to his content or to the passion he had for his business? His belief in what he was doing or was it his willingness to share something of himself in each of his lessons?
Throughout this series of blogs, I have shared pearls of wisdom from Steve Jobs and Carmine Gallo. My boss, Rob Campbell, worked for Steve Jobs in the early years at Apple. I’m sure he didn’t always agree with Steve, but he definitely understood his message. Rob has a personal nursing story. A story of watching nurses care for a member of his family without the communication tools that they needed. This experience shapes our work every day. Rob is crystal-clear in his message to us at Voalte. There is no escaping his passion to create and maintain the BEST communication devices for nurses. He holds us all to a high level of integrity, corporate truth, and productivity. He and Trey Lauderdale have used the message and their compelling story to convert an idea into a successful company benefiting nurses across the nation. We are constantly looking at additional ways to further support our nursing colleagues. And we get to do it in pink pants!
